Yellow is the color of the broom flower, the symbol of spring that blooms everywhere and welcomes the warm season. Just as Capri becomes covered in golden petals after winter, you too can wear jewelry inspired by the broom flower with Mediterranee Passioni creations.
Why did we choose the broom flower for this yellow floral jewelry collection? For those of us who live on the island, this plant has a special meaning. It is connected to rebirth, local stories, and religious traditions that are part of Capri’s identity. The History and Meaning of the Capri Broom Flower
To describe our broom flower jewelry, let’s begin with a short introduction to Spartium junceum, a shrub from the Fabaceae family. It is a typical Mediterranean plant, found throughout Southern Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.
The elegance of this flower also inspired Giacomo Leopardi, who dedicated one of his most famous poems to it. In his poem La Ginestra, the flower becomes a symbol of hope and resilience. It survives hardship with dignity and grows even on the barren slopes of Mount Vesuvius.
On Capri, broom flowers color the hills of Mount Tiberio and Mount Solaro in Anacapri, where the rare Chamaecytisus spinescens, also known as the spiny broom, grows among the ruins of Castello Barbarossa. This rare flower became the inspiration for our jewelry collection.
The Broom Flower and Capri’s Traditions
The broom flower is inspiring, beautiful, and wonderfully fragrant. But there is another reason why we chose it for one of Mediterranee Passioni’s most loved jewelry lines: its deep connection to local traditions.
The broom flower is the symbol of Saint Costanzo, the patron saint of Capri. It blooms in May, the same month as the patronal celebration on May 14th. During these days, the silver bust of the saint is carried through the streets while broom petals fall from balconies above. Emotion fills the air together with the sweet scent of the flowers. Capri comes together as one community.

The flower is also linked to Saint Anthony, patron saint of Anacapri, celebrated on June 13th. During the procession, the sacred bust passes through the town streets, followed by crowds of faithful people and welcomed by carpets of fragrant broom flowers.
This golden flower unites the people of Capri and Anacapri. Today this bond feels natural, but in the past there was rivalry between the two towns. Religious celebrations were among the few moments that brought everyone together.
The broom plant was not only used for decoration and religious traditions. In 1936, after the First World War, it became an important resource against poverty. Its stems were used as textile fibers to create refined fabrics. Several workshops on the island produced elegant clothing that influenced the fashion of the time.
The Ginestra Collection: Gold, Mother-of-Pearl, and Diamonds

These jewels are born from the creativity of our designer Maria Alberino, while skilled artisans transform her vision into reality. The collection is part of Capri Bloom, a jewelry line inspired by the flowers of Capri and feminine beauty.
The yellow gold setting embraces the mother-of-pearl, a natural and iridescent treasure created inside shells from the southern seas. Mother-of-pearl protects the pearl until it is ready to emerge, just like a mother lovingly cares for her daughter until she is ready to face the world.

The yellow and white mother-of-pearl (Pinctada maxima) comes from Australia, the black variety from Tahiti, and the pink one from the United States. For our Capri flower jewelry collection, we selected precious materials from around the world, then entrusted them to our master artisans.
Expert hands transform mother-of-pearl into delicate petals, while diamonds complete the design by adding light and enhancing every reflection. The Ginestra flower jewelry collection includes rings, earrings, and pendants.
The earrings are available in different shapes and sizes. The wreath model recalls the shape of hoops, while classic designs include stud and hook earrings.
Wearing these handmade jewels almost feels like carrying the flower’s fragrance on your skin. The Ginestra Collection is perfect for women who love elegance and want to wear the spirit of spring on Capri — together with the beauty and history of the island.

The Ginestra Collection becomes a symbol of rebirth and inner strength, values that reflect the feminine soul. Would you like to discover our flower-inspired jewelry? Visit our online shop and choose the piece that best expresses your idea of beauty.
